DESCRIPTION:Who runs it?\n\n\n\n\nJenni\n\n\n\nGraham\n\n\n\nRich\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIs it for you?\n\n\n\nLaragne is on the edge of the Southern Alps\, giving it a consistent and reliable climate for learning to fly XC. This trip is for pilots who can thermal and have done an SIV course. You’re ready to go on your first XC or have already started going XC. \n\n\n\nAbout the trip\n\n\n\n\n\nPilots come back to Laragne year after year to build on the XC skills they learn here. During the week we’ll introduce you to the local weather patterns\, lead you through the planning process we use in our route setting\, clock up as many XC kilometres as possible and have fun doing it! \n\n\n\nTasks will be set according to the conditions\, your goals and ability. For those starting their XC career\, 25-50km flights are most usual\, while longer flights are not unusual for the more experienced groups. \n\n\n\nLaragne is in the pre-Alps. There is plenty of opportunity to learn about flying distance in the mountains without the strong valley winds\, narrow valleys and difficult landings of the big mountains. \n\n\n\n\n\nLaragneLaragne\n\n\n\n\n\nTrip schedule\n\n\n\nWe’ll arrive at the accommodation on Saturday afternoon in plenty of time to get set up ready to fly on Sunday. \n\n\n\nWe usually have a debrief of the previous day’s flying after breakfast\, followed by a weather and route briefing. On a normal day\, we have an XC flight in the afternoon and\, when conditions allow\, an evening flight\, before going out for dinner. \n\n\n\nFlights\n\n\n\nWe fly in and out Marseille airport\, usually on the morning Easyjet flight from Gatwick. \n\n\n\nAccommodation\n\n\n\nWe’ll be staying at a beautiful gite surrounded by orchards in the Provencal countryside\, with an outdoor pool and a landing field nearby. \n\n\n\nRooms are usually shared with one other pilot. \n\n\n\nBreakfast is included and a packed lunch is available at an extra cost. \n\n\n\nCost\n\n\n\n£1\,250 \n\n\n\nThe trip cost includes \n\n\n\n\nBed and breakfast accommodation\, based on two sharing \n\n\n\nAirport transfers \n\n\n\nTransport to take-off (excluding chair lifts) and all retrieves \n\n\n\nCoaching and guiding. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nBOOKING\n\n\n\nContact us to book. SUMMARY:XC flying - Saint Andre les Alpes
DESCRIPTION:Who runs it? \n\n\n\n\nGraham\n\n\n\nJenni\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIs it for you?\n\n\n\nSaint André is a great fun place to fly\, and is the starting point for many of the classic Alpine XC routes. It can be strong and a little more technical at times though\, so we usually only take people there who have already done one or more XC trip with us – which means you’ll have both good SIV skills and some Alpine XC experience. \n\n\n\nAbout the trip\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is the chance to fly some of the classic Alpine XC routes\, including the Dormillouse run up to beautiful Lac de Serre Ponçon. This is a very popular trip with many people coming back year after year. Our goal for the week is for everyone in the group to fly as many XC kilometres as possible. During the week we’ll lead you through the planning process we use in our route setting\, fly as far as we can and have fun doing it! We also want you to go away with knowledge and skills so you’ll have more confidence to get out there on your own. \n\n\n\nWe run it with a high ratio of instructors to students to make sure no one ever gets left behind and everyone gets plenty of support to get the most out of the trip. \n\n\n\nTasks will be set according to the conditions\, your goals and ability. We usually set at least one 100km+ flight with our more experienced groups\, sometimes more. \n\n\n\nThe Southern Alps are the place to be in September with long days and plenty of sunshine. \n\n\n\n\n\nSaint Vincent\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nTrip schedule\n\n\n\nWe’ll arrive at the accommodation on Sunday afternoon in plenty of time to get set up ready to fly on Monday morning. \n\n\n\nWe usually have a debrief of the previous day’s flying after breakfast\, followed by a weather and route briefing. On a normal day\, we have an XC flight in the afternoon and an evening flight\, before going out for dinner. \n\n\n\nFlights\n\n\n\nWe fly in and out of Nice airport which is well served from all London airports. \n\n\n\nAccommodation\n\n\n\nWe’ll be staying in typical French holiday apartments close to the centre of Saint André les Alpes. Accommodation is based on two pilots sharing a room\, although a limited number of single rooms are available (at a supplement). Breakfast is included. DESCRIPTION:Who runs it?\n\n\n\n\nRich \n\n\n\nAmy\n\n\n\nTiger\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIs it for you?\n\n\n\nThe week is suitable for new pilots who are looking to build their thermalling skills or for more experienced pilots who want a relaxed week flying\, in one of Italy’s most popular thermalling hotspots without the pressure of going cross country.  \n\n\n\nRequirements\n\n\n\n\nCP rating\n\n\n\nOwn kit serviced to manufacture requirements\, including a recently repacked reserve\n\n\n\nFor the safety of you and the group\, we maintain a strict no-exceptions policy regarding flying currency\n\n\n\n\nAbout the trip\n\n\n\n\n\nCome and progress your skills on our brand new trip to Bassano. A gentle ridge that hosts friendly launches\, manageable lift and large grassy landing fields. A perfect destination for building confidence\, thermalling for the first time and gaining airtime.   \n\n\n\nMonte Grappa sits on the edge of the southern alps and hosts a variety of 7 launches\, sloping all the way down to Bassano Del Grappa\, our closest town on the valley floor. Our south facing ridge runs east and west\, giving plenty of opportunities to catch thermals along the main spines that connect to the Italian plains; where you can spot the coast and on a clear day\, Venice. Making this playground a perfect mixture of mountain and flatland flying.  \n\n\n\nWhilst nowhere is guaranteed good weather\, Bassano’s micro-climate is often protected from the bad weather in the bigger mountains\, making it a reliable place to fly.  \n\n\n\n\n\nTrip schedule\n\n\n\nOn arrival day after settling into our accommodation we’ll start with some briefings and kit preparations before heading out to dinner as a group.  \n\n\n\nThe next morning after breakfast we’ll run through the weather and plan for the day before heading up to fly. We’ll be using local shuttles and depending on the conditions\, will aim for two flights a day. Finishing with a local aperol spritz to celebrate your days flying. \n\n\n\nFlights\n\n\n\nWe fly into Venice airport which is only an hour’s drive away from our accommodation. \n\n\n\nAccommodation\n\n\n\nWe will be staying at Tilly’s. A hotel that’s mainly used by paraglider pilots and is only 5 minutes walk from our main landing field. Rooms are shared with one other pilot and breakfast is included.
